The shipyard was established in Freeport in the year 1999 as part of a larger plan to develop a maritime centre on the island.
It is located inside the port of Freeport, Grand Bahama, only 93 nm east of Miami, Florida, and capable of docking any type of seagoing vessel up to 300m in length.
In order to service deep draft vessels or underwater propulsion system exchanges, a deep-water pier has been developed and is fully functioning with drafts of 14m.
